Earl Dee Theodore Hering of Sealy, Texas, went to be with Jesus on Monday, June 1, 2020 at the age of 86.

Earl was born on September 15, 1933 to Gustav Alfred Hering and Julia Ida Bischoff Hering Kollatschny. The youngest of 4 children, he grew up in Frydek, Texas in the Rexville Community.

Earl was a dedicated worker at General Welding Works for over 35 years, but still found time to take care of the farm that he shared with his wife Augusta Rose Zapalac Hering. He would name all of his livestock and his kind nature was obvious in how the animals all responded only to him. You could find him out on the farm, bottle feeding his calves and always wearing his beloved cowboy hat like a halo on his head.

Earl loved to be on the deer lease and was the first one in the deer stand each morning. When he wasn't out at the deer lease, you could find him singing along to polka music with his family and celebrating every Friday as "Catfish Friday" without fail. Earl was the Grand Ole Opry's biggest fan and he could beat you in dominoes without even trying. He had a surprising knack for yodeling and would gladly play the harmonica ("French harp") to entertain his grandkids whenever asked. Earl could often be found swinging on the porch at coffee time, holding hands with the love of his life, his sweetheart of 61 years. Momma Rose.

Earl had a wonderful passion for life and storytelling. He could spend hours telling you about all his crazy adventures from his younger days, always adding in a little extra spice to keep it interesting. Earl had a kind, gentle spirit that left an impression on everyone he met. He was a strong, faith-filled man that loved his family fiercely. He had left behind cowboy boots that are too big to fill.

Earl is preceded in death by his beloved wife Rose, his sons Earl Dee Jr. and Roger Dale Hering, his mother and father, and his sisters Gladys Belote and Ernestine Schneider and brother Ernest Hering.

He is survived, missed, celebrated, and loved by his daughter Rose Bean of El Paso, Lisa Wilson of Sealy, and Lori Worrell of Friendswood, sons-in-law Dr. Jim Bean, Steve Wilson, and Randy Worrell, his grandchildren Jonathan Mitchell Hering, Katy and Mark Weldon, Christina and Ray Ramirez, Jennifer and Dylan Steinbach, Matthew Worrell, Sam and Kelly Wilson, Meagan Bean, Nathan Bean, Rainey Worrell, and great-grandchildren Alyssa, Maggie, Anderson, and Sophia.

Donations in Earl's honor and memory can be made to: Immaculate Conception Church 608 5th St. Sealy, Texas 77474.

Visitation with the family was held on Thursday, June 4, 2020 from 11am to 12:30pm followed by a rosary at 12:30pm. Father Eric Pitre officiated a funeral mass at 1pm all at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy. Interment followed the services at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Sealy.
