Dogtopia to open on S. Mason Road

A new doggy daycare, Dogtopia, is set to open at 1817 S. Mason Road in the Katy area, according to a Dogtopia press release.

The new Katy location for the pet care chain helps dog owners with daycare, education, exercise and socialization. Owner Shiraj Patel said he decided to open the center to provide a safe place for dogs. Each pet is evaluated for open play with other animals and the facility has webcams set up in each pet playroom so owners can keep an eye on their pets when travelling.

“With Katy residents headed back to work now, Dogtopia is a safe and fun place for their dogs to spend their days,” Patel said. “Their pups will never have to be anxious at home alone anymore.”

The doggy daycare also supports various causes in the community through The Dogtopia Foundation. The foundation funds programs that provide service dogs for veterans, youth literacy programs and employment initiatives for autistic adults. The Katy location has set a goal to raise $6,000 to sponsor a service dog for a veteran in need. All of the funds raised will be donated to that effort. Supporters can donate by texting DOGTOPIA435 to 71777 or visiting www.dogtopiafoundation.org.

Patel said he is excited to help local dog lovers with their pets.

“At Dogtopia, they will be loved, socialized, educated and exercised with our team of highly trained canine coaches,” Patel said.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Dogtopia has delayed their opening to September. A previous version of this article indicated they'd opened Aug. 23. After receiving an update from Dogtopia, this article has been updated. to reflect the delayed opening.
