In a June 25 press release, the office of Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner Lesley Briones, whose district includes much of the greater Katy area, announced a partnership with the Houston Food Bank which will provide free meals to needy children during the summer.
The Houston Food Banks’s Kids Café Summer Meal Program is open on a “drop in” basis from June 10 to August 9. The initiative helps alleviate child hunger by providing children up to age 18 with free nutritious meals on a first-come, first served basis. The program is closed on county holidays.
The following Precinct 4 community centers – all located north of I-10 – are open between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. for food distribution:
· Hockley Community Center, 28515 Old Washington Road, Hockley 77447
· Weekly Community Center, 8440 Greenhouse Road, Cypress 77433
· Radack Community Center 18650 Clay Road, Houston 77084
· Freed Park Community Center, 6818 Shadyvilla Lane, Houston 77055
