Katy’s Avery Coates and Tompkins Matthew Aigner earned first place at the 1-meter diving championships on Thursday at the District 19-6A swimming and diving meet.
The top six finishers from the diving finals move on to the regional meet.
Coates took home first place in the girls event, followed by silver medalist Kailey Koval of Seven Lakes, bronze medalist Tompkins Lorenza Kabuloglu, fourth place finisher Seven Lakes Vivi Jokinen, fifth place finisher Katy’s Giselle Rojas and sixth place finisher Seven Lakes Mikayla Kaplan.
On the boys side, Aigner took home the gold, while Tompkins Daniel Barrientos took home the silver, Cinco Ranch’s Yuyi Kobe earned a bronze medal, Mayde Creek’s Lee Jordan came in fourth place.
