The City of Katy kicked off the season with its inaugural “Champions on the Square” event, held Saturday, August 24 in the historic downtown square at Second Street and Avenue C. The free celebration of Katy High School and its storied championships, emceed by special guest Carder of KSBJ’s morning show, included performances by That Roarin’ Band from Tigerland, the Bengal Brigade and Cheer teams, and the Katy High School Choir, as well as remarks from Coach Gary Joseph. The school’s many championship trophies were on display in the Katy Civic Center in the square, and Tiger alumni as well as current athletes attended. The evening culminated in a spectacular lighted drone show sponsored and created by SkyWonder Drones.
