Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union is teaming up with local businesses to sponsor the Katy ISD “Teacher of the Year” recognition event on Thursday, April 29. This virtual event will be conducted over Zoom from 11 a.m. to noon and the KISD community is invited to join in the celebration.

“Supporting educators in our local community has been our top priority for over 67 years,” said BVSCU CEO Yvonne Kershner.  “Presenting the Katy ISD Teacher of the Year event is just one of the many ways we give back to our partners in education. We welcome the opportunity to recognize and honor those who make a difference in the lives of our future community leaders.”

Business leaders and members of the community will gather virtually to honor outstanding teachers from each campus who have demonstrated excellence and leadership among their peers and in their classrooms. Winning recipients from all 73 KISD campuses will be recognized during the event for their contributions. Each campus winner will receive a gift bag, filled with numerous items donated by the local business community and a $100 gift card.

“Our teachers are a huge part of the success of Katy ISD,” said KISD Superintendent Ken Gregorski. “Their commitment and dedication to our students, especially during the challenges of the past year, make us proud to have them on our team. We are so appreciative of BVSCU’s commitment to teachers and value their partnership with the district.”

“It is with great admiration that we recognize the extraordinary work of these Katy ISD teachers,” said Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Houston Methodist West Hospital Kyle Stanzel, “The past year has presented educators with unprecedented challenges, and it has been inspiring to see your strength and commitment to our children. Thank you for continuing to dedicate your time, energy and skills to your students and ensuring they have the tools for future success."
