Wll Stark, Drew Markle and Ryan Brome led the way for Katy ISD on the Texas Sports Writers Association Class 6A all-state baseball team, as all three were named first team all-state.
For Tompkins, Markle, who hit .403 with 13 doubles, four triples and 38 RBIs, made the team as a designated hitter. Stark, a second baseman, hit .422 with 22 RBIs while scoring 50 runs. Katy High’s Brome, a first baseman, hit .453 with 31 RBIs, 6 home runs and nine doubles. Brome is signed to play at Texas Tech while Stark will continue his baseball career at Wichita State.
Tompkins Jack Little was named to the second team at first base. Little, like Stark has signed to play at Wichita State. Jace LaViolette, who has committed to play at LSU, was named to the third team. Little hit .424 with 45 RBIS, seven doubles and three homeruns while scoring 48 runs and stealing 14 bases. LaViolette had a 2.49 ERA with 67 strikeouts over 39.1 innings pitched as a junior.
Katy High’s CJ Matthews and Aiden Huerta, Tompkins Graiden West and Cinco Ranch’s Evan Marquez and Blake Hansen were honorable mentions on the team.
Tompkins placed five players overall on the team after a 31-7-1 season which saw the team reach the regional semifinals, the schools longest ever playoff run in baseball.
