Cinco Ranch held on to its lead in District 19-6A with a strong win on Saturday, beating Mayde Creek 9-0 to improve to 18-3 on the season and 6-1 in district play.

Cinco Ranch held on to its lead in District 19-6A with a strong win on Saturday, beating Mayde Creek 9-0 to improve to 18-3 on the season and 6-1 in district play.
The Cougars had four pitchers combine for a two hitter, as Parker Booth started and went four innings to earn the win before Eli Coughran, Dalen Jensen and Gavin Rutherford all pitched an inning each to seal things. Booth had three strikeouts and allowed just two hits in the win.
Cinco broke things open early, Lucas Franco hit a two-run double to start the scoring in the bottom of the first inning. Rutherford made it 3-0 in the second inning with an RBI single and Logan Sosolik drove in two more a batter later, Torin Green hit a one run single and Connor Ficarra hit a sacrifice grounder as Cinco took a 7-0 lead after two innings.
The Cougars got two more in the third inning from an error and were able to lock down the rest of the way, not allowing Mayde Creek to get anything across.
Nick Paul started on the mound for the Rams and went 3.2 innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits to go with seven strikeouts while also walking four. Mayde Creeks record dropped to 6-12-1 and 1-6 overall with the loss.
Tompkins downs Taylor
Tompkins had a combo of strong pitching and offense on Saturday as they rolled to a 9-0 win over Taylor, moving to 13-6-1 overall and 6-1 in district play.
Kaden Bertrand had a good day on the mound for the Falcons, taking advantage of his start by allowing just two hits over four innings while striking out six and walking one to lead the pitching staff to a shutout. Aryan Chopra led the Falcons with three RBIs while Gavin Brewer had two runs driven in.
Tompkins offense settled in in the second inning as Brewer put the Faclons ahead on an RBI single and Adam Benavidez drove in another on a double. They added another in the third inning off an error before Chopra hit a one-run singe and Ty Dagley drove in a run with a double in the fourth inning, making things 5-0.
Brewer was at it again in the fifth inning, driving in a run on a single and Chopra followed that up by driving in two with a single of his own. Benavidez put things beyond a doubt in the sixth inning when he drew a bases loaded walk to increase Tompkins advantage to 9-0, as the Falcons didn’t allow anything the rest of the way.
Layne Bishop started on the mound for Taylor and went 3.1 innings, allowing three earned runs on seven hits while striking out three and walking one. Taylor’s record fell to 13-8-1 overall and 1-4 in district play.
Seven Lakes run rules Morton Ranch
Seven Lakes earned a run rule win over Morton Ranch on Saturday, as they had a huge day offensively combined with strong pitching to beat the Mavericks 12-1 in five innings, moving to 12-7 overall and 3-2 in district play.
Travis Berra started on the mound and went all five innings for Seven Lakes, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out five to earn the win while also driving in five runs to lead the Spartans.
The Spartans got their first two runs in the first inning off of an error before Berra drove in two more with a single. Morton Ranch got one back in the top of the second when Brandon Hasselbring drove in a run on a sacrifice fly.
Jake Steffes made it a four run game for Seven Lakes in the second with an RBI double and Berra followed that up with a double of his own, driving in three to make things 8-1 in favor of the Spartans. Steffes hit another double in the third to drive in a run before James Benjamin hit an RBI single, the Spartans got a run off a wild pitch and another on a passed ball to secure the game.
Isaac Cantu started on the mound and went 1.2 innings for Morton Ranch, allowing seven earned runs on six hits while striking out two and walking six. The Mavericks fell to 4-16 overall and 1-6 in district play with the loss.
