The Rotary Club of Katy Triathlon is set for Sept. 4 at 2100 Cane Island Pkwy. And, as in years past, the triathlon provides a chance for people to master a physical challenge, but also to raise money for scholarships benefiting Katy ISD students.
As students return to local schools this week, security, managing district growth and filling teacher and staff vacancies are on the minds of many. Three local superintendents shared their perspectives at an Aug. 10 luncheon sponsored by the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce.
Thelma Williams, a 103-year-old World War II veteran from Katy, was honored by the American Legion at its annual three-day state convention, held last month in Austin. The convention featured policy discussions and breakout sessions for 453 posts that comprise the Department of Texas, representing 53,319 veteran members.
Katy ISD earned an overall A rating (91) from the Texas Education Agency’s A-F Accountability Rating System, the district said.
