Tompkins qualifies for state 7-on-7 for second straight year

Tompkins qualifies for state 7-on-7 for second straight year

For the second straight year, Tompkins is headed to the state 7-on-7 tournament.

128 teams from across the state of Texas will qualify for the tournament, which will be held in College Station June 27th-29th.

The Falcons qualified over the weekend with a huge night at the Cy-Fair East State Qualifying Tournament, beating every team they faced by at least six points.

Tompkins went undefeated in pool play, beating Jersey Village 34-20, Cy-Ranch 26-20 and Lamar 22-12, once Tompkins got into the state qualifying round the Falcons beat Conroe Oak Ridge 32-6 to clinch a spot at state.

It’s back to back in College Station for Tompkins and the fourth overall, the Falcons qualified in 2023, 2021 and 2018. Tompkins made the championship bracket at last year’s state 7-on-7 before falling to DeSoto in the first round of championship play to end their run.

Cinco Ranch and Paetow also competed in last week’s Cy-Fair East State Qualifying Tournament. The Cougars, who had already clinched a spot at state, lost to Cy-Woods in group play 25-6 before beating Paetow 32-19 and losing to Bridgeland 25-7. Paetow lost to Bridgeland 27-19 and beat Cy-Woods 37-25, also losing to Cinco Ranch as the Cougars were unable to get out of group play.
