St. John XXIII College Preparatory in Katy announced that class of 2021 senior Luke Parmenter has been named a semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. The semifinalist designation means Parmenter will be up for more than 7,600 scholarships worth more than $30 million when he graduates this coming May.
Parmenter was among 16,000 students selected out of 1.6 million PSAT/NMSQT testers last year.
“Mr. Parmenter is representative of the excellent educational and character forming opportunities that exist at SJ23,” A press release put out by the school said.
The next step in the selection process will come in February 2021 when the list is narrowed down to finalists. Afterward, awards for the various scholarships will be announced in March.
