Royal ISD announced its selection as a CTE District of Distinction by the Career and Technical Association of Texas (CTAT) in a January 23 press release. “This prestigious recognition honors districts across Texas for their leadership, innovation, and commitment to student success through high-quality Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs,” said the release. “This milestone is especially significant as it marks Royal ISD’s recognition in the inaugural year of the CTAT’s CTE District of Distinction program.”
The CTE District of Distinction program, launched by CTAT, acknowledges districts that excel in workforce readiness, foster innovation in CTE, and inspire others through their dedication to student achievement and community impact. These honored districts serve as statewide models of excellence, showcasing best practices and driving progress in Career and Technical Education, according to the release.
“Earning the title of CTE District of Distinction highlights the dedication and excellence of our educators, administrators, and students,” said Royal ISD Superintendent Rick Kershner. “We are proud to provide innovative, future-focused CTE programs that prepare our students for success in their careers.”
The CTE District of Distinction program celebrates exceptional Career and Technical Education programs across Texas. Districts are selected based on rigorous criteria, including:
· Innovative programming
· Industry-based certifications
· Alignment with workforce needs
· Exceptional student outcomes
· This designation highlights districts that meet these high standards and serve as role models for others striving to enhance their CTE programs.
The press release said that Royal ISD’s CTE programs are built on a foundation of:
· Innovation: Designing programs that equip students with cutting-edge skills.
· Workforce Alignment: Ensuring programs align with current and future industry needs.
· Commitment to Student Success: Focusing on delivering exceptional outcomes for every student.
“Being named a CTE District of Distinction not only showcases Royal ISD’s achievements but also sets a benchmark for excellence in Career and Technical Education statewide,” said a district spokesperson. “This recognition opens doors to collaboration with educational and workforce development leaders, advancing the district’s mission to prepare students for success in a rapidly evolving economy.”
