One dead after crash on I-10

One man has been killed after a crash the afternoon of March 19 on I-10 just east of Cane Island Parkway in Fort Bend County according to a Texas Department of Public Safety press release. David Dixon, 42, of Jourdanton was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fort Bend County Medical Examiner’s Office.

“The preliminary crash investigation indicates that on (March 19), at approximately 5:20 p.m., a 2021 Kenworth T880 was traveling west in the center lane of IH-10. The driver of the Kenworth made an unsafe lane change to the outside lane striking a 2017 Mini Cooper,” said DPS Sergeant Stephen Woodward in the press release.

The Mini Cooper then appears to have collided with a 2016 Freightliner tractor and trailer that was also traveling west on the inside lane. This appears to have caused the Freightliner, driven by Dixon, into a concrete culvert located on the north side of I-10’s westbound lanes.

The Kenworth was operated by Octavian Cockerham II, 42, of Katy while the Mini Cooper was driven by Bryan Toucheck, Jr., 54, of Sealy.

No charges have been filed at this time and the crash remains under investigation, Woodward said.
