OakBend Medical Center in Richmond’s Director of Public Relations Linda Drummond has issued a statement with revised visitation policies that go into effect March 27. The new policy limits the number of visitors with each patient in order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
“We understand that this will be a difficult change for our patients and their loved ones; however, the number of increased COVID-19 patients in the Greater Houston and surrounding area has made it necessary to make visitation changes,” Drummond said in the statement.
ER patients will be allowed one visitor, women in the Labor and Delivery department will be allowed one significant other and disabled patients will be allowed one caretaker, the statement said.
OakBend Medical Center was designated as Fort Bend County’s first COVID-19 testing center in an announcement earlier today.
“Our patients, community and our staff are very important to us and we have not made this decision lightly,” Drummond said.
