The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for portions of the Katy area in Waller and Harris counties. The warning includes possible flash flooding caused by heavy rain from Tropical Depression Beta.

“The flood threat is particularly concerning as developing rain bands this evening will potentially impact locations which have already experienced widespread flash flooding over the past 24 hours,” the warning said.

Locations include the Katy area, Tomball, Addicks Park Ten, northern Eldridge/West Oaks, Hockley, Pattison, Cypress, Hooks Airport, Addicks and Memorial.

Those force to travel should turn around rather than entering flooded roadways and drive slower at night in order to spot flooded roadways more easily.

“Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots,” the warning reads.
