Former Katy head baseball coach Tom McPherson was inducted into the Greater Houston Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Honor on Thursday.
McPherson, who retired this spring after leading the Tigers to a regional semifinal appearance. He coached for 45 years and was the head coach for Katy from 1987-2022, the final 34 years of his career.
During that time, McPherson became the all time winningest coach in Class 6A Texas high school baseball during his time at Katy and finished his career with 891 wins over the coaurse of his time at Katy, Canyon, Levelland and Johnson City while he also spent time at Texans Tech and Hardin Simmons. McPherson ended his career with two state tournament appearances and a number of district championships at Katy.
Joining McPherson as 2022 inductees were Langham Creek head coach Armando Sedano, former Bellaire head coach Rocky Manuel and former Elkins and Prosper coach Rick Carpenter.
