Recognizing the remarkable creativity and artistic talent in residence at Katy ISD, the district honored the winners of the recent 2025 Teacher Art Show, according to an October 7 press release. This year’s showcase featured a range of paintings, sculpture, drawings and other artwork, earning enthusiastic feedback from district staff and community visitors.
· “Best of Show” honors were awarded to Natavia Gamble, of Cardiff Junior High School, for her compelling piece “State of Catastrophe.”
· The “People’s Choice” award went to Jason Maggitti, of Rylander Elementary School, for his immersive work “Onward and Upward.”
· “Curator’s Choice” was presented to Erin Mitchell, of Tompkins High School, for her striking sculpture “Ocean Dwelling.”
Winners were chosen by popular vote. Art show visitors became curators by scanning QR codes to cast votes for art that sparked inspiration and mirrored their own artistic interests.
“The Teacher Art Show is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the artistic passions of our educators beyond the classroom,” Katy ISD Executive Director of Fine Arts Damon Archer said. “Their creativity inspires students and colleagues throughout the district.”
Laura Simoneaux, Assistant Director of Fine Arts who directly supports the visual art discipline, extended her appreciation to all the teachers who participated in this year’s exhibition and contributed their time, talent and enthusiasm to make the event a success.
