Marjorie Allen Gorden was born on February 18, 1918 to Winfield Scott Allen and Lutie Mae Sexsmith in Gate, Oklahoma. Marjorie graduated high school in Englewood, Kansas in 1936. She married Cecil Dennis Gorden on December 24, 1940 in Harper County, Oklahoma and then moved to Texas. In January, 1943, Marjorie and Cecil made their lifelong home in Katy, Texas. She was a faithful member of Katy First United Methodist Church where she held many positions. After 25 years of service, she retired from First Bank of Katy in January 1993. She was a Literary Club member for 63 years. She enjoyed volunteering at Memorial Hermann Hospital for over 19 years. In 2013, Katy City Council honored Marjorie as Senior Citizen of the Year. She was always reaching out to her family and friends just to check on them. She enjoyed her computer time with them as well. She was always loving and caring.


Marjorie Allen Gorden passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022 in Katy, Texas at the age of 104 years.


She is survived by her children, Joyce Lobb and her husband James of Tyler, Texas and Dennis Gorden and his wife Nancy of Katy, Texas; grandchildren, Richard Lobb and his wife Darla of Bellingham, Washington, Jamie Lobb of Cypress, Texas, Kristina Miles and her husband Pete of Graham, Washington, Shea McNew and her husband Roger of Lavernia, Texas and Michael Kinneman of League City, Texas; great grandsons, Timothy Lobb and Nicholas Lobb; sister-in-law, Betty Wheeler of Dodge City, Kansas; as well as other loving family members and many friends.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Gorden; by one granddaughter, Katherine Denise Gorden; her parents, Winfield and Lutie Allen; three siblings and a brother-in-law.


The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2022 in the Schmidt Funeral Home East Avenue Chapel, in Katy. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Katy First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jason Smith and Rev. Mark Kimbrough officiating. Interment in Memorial Oaks Cemetery.


Pallbearers will be Don Elder, Rick Lobb, Roger McNew, Mike Kinemann, Neal Allen, and Pat Wallace.
