Nottingham Country Elementary School Principal Tracy Stroud announced via campus newsletter that the campus will be temporarily suspending in-person instruction in accordance with Katy ISD’s COVID-19 guidelines.

“We encourage our parents to continually monitor their students for symptoms of COVID-19 prior to returning them to campus on November 10 and to complete the self-reporting tool on the District website should you receive a positive test result,” Stroud said in the announcement.

Extracurricular activities at the campus have also been temporarily suspended, a statement from the district said.

According to KISD’s COVID-19 dashboard, the campus at 20500 Kingsland Blvd. in the Katy area currently has five cases among staff and 17 cases among students receiving face-to-face instruction. There are no cases reported among students attending classes through the Katy Virtual Academy program.

The announcement follows the closure of Seven Lakes High School last week which was shut down after the district received a Corrective Action Advisement letter from Fort Bend County’s Health and Human Services Department. District representatives did not respond to questions regarding whether Nottingham Country’s closure was also prompted by a county-level decision. Notthingham Country is located in unincorporated Harris County.

Districtwide, KISD reports 230 active cases of COVID-19 at this time. Among those, 166 cases are face-to-face students, 10 are Katy Virtual Academy students and 54 are ill staff members. A total of 544 cases have occurred among all campuses since Aug. 19.

“As outlined in the Katy ISD COVID-19 Mitigation Plan, with the temporary closure of in-person instruction, all extracurricular and student programs will be temporarily suspended during a campus closure,” a letter issued by KISD to parents of Nottingham Country students said.
