Katy swept their way past Elkins in the bi-district round, putting on a dominant performance in the bi-district round to advance to area.

The Tigers won 5-2 in the first game of the series before closing things out with a 17-2 blowout win in the second game to advance to area.

Katy took the lead early and strolled to the win in game one.

They took the lead in the bottom of the first inning, when Ashtyn Reichardt hhit a two run double to start the scoring. Cameryn Harrison then hit a sacrifice grounder.  The Tigers then made it 5-0 in the second inning, as Reichardt doubled to drive in two.

Things remained that way until the seventh inning, when Elkins got two runs across but couldn’t muster anything else as Katy took a one game advantage.

Harrison was big on the mound in game one, starting and going three innings, not allowing a hit while striking out eight of the nine batters she faced. Paige Bunting then threw three innings, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out two. Lauryn Soeken closed things out by striking out two in the final inning.

Game two was even more in Katy’s favor, as Elkins took an early lead but Katy’s offense pummeled the Knights the rest of the way for a 17-2 win.

Elkins took the lead in the bottom of the first inning on a two run homerun, but the Tigers answered right back in the top of the second. Hailey Gore got Katy on the board with a single and Peyton Watson tied it on a double to center field. Avery Porter then gave Katy the lead on a single and Kailey Wyckoff hit a sacrifice fly before Erynne Castillo drove in another with a single, Harrison drove in another with a single and Gore hit a two run double, making it 9-2 in favor of the Tigers after the second inning.

Katy’s offense wasn’t done either, in the third inning Montgomery Hederson started the scoring with a grand slam, before Soeken drove in a run on a single and Hailey Gore hit a two run homerun. Harrison capped the scoring off in the fifth inning with a solo homerun as Katy got a run rule win.

Soeken started on the mound and earned the win, going three innings and allowing two runs on four hits while striking out three and Harrison stepped in to close out the last two innings, allowing one hit and striking out four.
