Katy Sip N Stroll, benefiting Ballard House, set for Saturday

Posted

The 23rd annual Katy Sip N Stroll, a culinary and wine community event, is set for Saturday.

The event is set for 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the Ark by Norris 21402 Merchants Way. VIP admission begins at 5 p.m.

Parking will not be permitted in the Arc by Norris parking lot as that is the event grounds. Guests are asked not to park in the GEICO corporate parking lot next door, or risk being towed. A complimentary shuttle service running along Merchants Way will take guests from their parking spot to the event grounds.

Sip N Stroll is filled with a wide range of culinary creations, wine displays with industry experts, craft beer, live music on two stages, a Spirits Patio and engaging exhibitor experiences. It features over 125 displays, with guests canvassing the grounds enjoying wine tasting displays, dozens of craft beer selections, and delicious culinary offerings from 35+ area restaurants, chefs and caterers. A judging team of classically-trained chefs will judge the entries competing for the annual Premier Culinary Awards.

The event features two live music stages. Katy’s own award-winning singer/songwriter Kristen Hart will be singing on the American Furniture Warehouse Back Lot Music Stage. Shang and Byron’s 2-Man Band will be singing on the Aruba Tourism Party Stage,

Ballard House manager Kathy Alt said described the Ballard House as a symbol of the warm and welcoming spirit of Katy’s community.

“The need for housing assistance has exploded the last couple of years,” Alt said. “Now is a critical time to support Cinco Charities as we are daily answering the need from West Houston’s growing medical community by providing patients and their families free lodging and other services so they can concentrate on receiving their treatment.”

The Katy Sip N Stroll is one of Cinco Charities’ major fundraising events to support the operating costs of The Ballard House, which provides temporary housing for individuals and their families who are hospitalized or receiving treatment for a serious medical condition.

Constance and Clifton McDerby, the event’s co-founders, said their hearts are dedicated to The Ballard House, which is why they created the event.

“Today our commitment is just as strong now as it was from the start,” the McDerbys said. “We invite you to raise a glass, meet a new friend, share a laugh and take it all in while serving the needs of guests of The Ballard House.”
