Katy ISD players filled up the pages of award winners in this years Texas Association of Soccer Coaches All-Region and All-State recognitions.
The district placed seven all-state players and seven all-region players on the boys side and two All-State players and eight all-region players on the girls side while coaches in the district also got recognition for their efforts.
For the boys, Ben Aviles Vera was named first team all-state as a goalkeeper for Seven Lakes while Jordan’s Elijah Betancourt was named honorable mention all-state at goalkeeper.
For defenders, Cinco Ranch’s Ossian Elgstrom was named first team all-state and Jordan’s Ben Bucic was named second team all-state. Tompkins’ Jacob Robisch was named second team all-region.
In midfield, Aidan Morrison led the way for Seven Lakes, being named first team all-state, while Jordan’s Marcelo Ojeda and Jusancarlos Santos were named first team all-region.
And at forward the district really shined. Seven Lakes had two players named all-state in Kortay Koc, who was named to the first team, and Hunter Merritt, who was named honorable mention all-state. Paetow had two forwards named all-region, as Jose Dominguez and Benjamin Alimasi were named first team all-region. Cinch Ranch’s Daniel Vargas was named second team all-region along with Tompkins’ Luis Lugo, who rounded out the all-region selections.
On the girls side, Seven Lakes Maddie Rich led the way as the district only first team all-state member, earning the honors at goalkeeper, while Jordan’s Madelyn Mech was named first team all-region at goalkeeper.
For defenders, Tompkins’ Ilyse Lehmann and Seven Lakes Katie Lennon were named first team all-region and Tompkins’ Grace Nyamapfumba was named second team all-region.
Seven Lakes Rebecca Romero was named honorable mention all-state in midfield while Tompkins’ Rhegan Coobs was named first team all-region.
For forwards, Tompkins’ Kayla Boven and Seven Lakes’ Haydan Erck were named first team all-region, while Jordan’s Madison Lambert was named second team all-region.
Seven Lakes head boys coach Jimmy Krueger was named the head coach of the year out of region three, while Seven Lakes Jay Kolkman was named the regions assistant coach of the year.
