Katy, Cinco’s seasons end in bi-district round

Both Katy and Cinco Ranch fell in the bi-district rounds to end their seasons.

Katy finished third in district, while Cinco Ranch finished fourth to set up tough playoff matchups in the first round.

Katy comes close but can’t top Dulles

Katy put everything into it but came up just short against Dulles.

Dulles came out 51-47 victors, but it wasn’t without very stressful moments that the Tigers gave them.

Katy led after each of the first three quarters, including an 8-6 lead after the first quarter and 17-16 lead at halftime. Lyric Barr had seven points in the first half and Bri Nelson had five points in the first half.

Katy extended its lead to four points at the end of the third quarter, but Dulles came roaring back in the fourth as Nya Threatt scored six points in the quarter to lead the Vikings to the win.

Nyla Wold finished with nine points for Katy, while Barr, Nelson Ashlyn Alexander all came away with seven points in the loss for Katy.

Cougars fall to Fort Bend Austin in bi-district

Cinco Ranch knew it would have its hands full with District 20-6A champions Fort Bend Austin.

The Cougars put up a fight, but ultimately came up short against the Bulldogs, losing 64-50 in the bi-district round.

Aniya Foy kept the Cougars in it in the first half, scoring 18 points in the first two quarters as Cinco overcame a 18-9 first quarter deficit to only trail 33-28 at halftime. But Austin was able to pull away in the second half as Anna Kirkpatrick socred 10 points in the half and Gabrielle Johnson scored nine in the half to lead the Bulldogs to the win.

Foy finished the night with 26 points, while Danielle Williams had 12.
