Katy area residents honor WWII veteran on his 97th birthday
Katy area first responders and residents honored Robert “Uncle Bob” Kiesewetter on his 97th birthday on Saturday, May 22. Kiesewetter is a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and was honored by first responders with Harris County Emergency Services District 48, the Patriot Guard Riders and community members who wanted to honor him for his service and longevity.
Kiesewetter was born May 22, 1924.
Members of the community, including many of Kiesewetter’s neighbors and his family were on hand to watch the procession. Members of Katy VFW Post 9182 and American Legion Post 164’s joint honor guard were also present.
Kiesewetter’s service began when the Air Force was a young branch of the military, having evolved from the U.S. Army Air Corps to become the U.S. Air Force on June 20, 1941.
