Jordan’s Armijo named 19-5A MVP, Meekins named Coach of the Year

Jordan’s Ryan Armijo was named the District 19-5A MVP after a year in which Jordan set records in their first year of varsity play.

Armijo helped the Warriors in their terrific season by tallying 15 goals and nine assists, helping the Warriors to a second place finish in district.

Jason Meekins was named coach of the year for his efforts in leading the Warriors through the season while Marcelo Ojeda was named newcomer of the year.

Jordan went on a huge run in the playoffs, winning the Class 5A Region III title and making the state semifinals in the process.

Paetow’s Ismael Espinosa was named goalkeeper of the year for the district while Toheeb Oladipupo was named Co-Defensive player of the year after the Panthers won the district title and advanced to the area round.

Magnolia West’s Jafet Ramirez was named offensive player of the year, Magnolia’s Gustavo was named midfielder of the year and College Stations’ Zach Dang was named co-defensive player of the year.

Jordan’s Elijah Betancourt, Ben Bucic and Pierce Sanchez were named to the first team while Paetow’s Jose Dominguez, Lukas Herrera, Daniel Marquez and Roberto Sepulveda were named to the first team as well.

On the girls side, Jordan’s Peri Olmo and Brooklyn Chavis was named newcomer of the year after helping the Warriors to a second round appearance in the playoffs.

Chavis and Olmo along with Christine Marinho and Peri Olmo were named to the first team, as was Paetow’s Rayal Henderson and Breana Rodriguez.
