“Our secondary played so well tonight, they couldn’t get any separation off of those guys and our defensive line, when they get in pass rush mode, they’re hard to block. They like playing that aggressive style, they’re accustomed to playing physical and it's fun to watch them operate.”

Jordan’s defense felt it had a point to prove on Friday.
The Warriors have been praised for their defenses performance all year, but they knew how important this week’s test would be. Jordan had gone up against good teams but none with an offense as productive as Cinco Ranch’s, and they knew it was a chance to continue to make a name for themselves.
The Warriors (6-0, 4-0) passed that test with flying colors, completely shutting down a powerful Cinco Ranch (2-4, 2-2) offense in a 52-12 win, as the Warriors dominated from the first whistle to remain unbeaten on the year and in District 19-6A play.
“We come out here every week and our goal is to dominate no matter who we face,” said senior linebacker Brayden Coffie. “We just want to prove it to ourselves and everyone else. There’s a chip on our shoulder this season. We want to be the side leading and winning games and you could see that tonight. It’s just fun going out there with these guys.”
Jordan never allowed Cinco Ranch to gain any footing in the game. The Cougars were shut out in the first half and only had 61 yards in the first half and gained less than 175 yards of total yards for the entire game.
Lots of that had to do with the Jordan secondary. The Warriors defensive staff challenged the players at the back this week to come up in press man to man on almost every play, limiting the Cougars quick pass game and run-pass options that they love to run. The Jordan corners and safeties answered the bell, they not only limited the Cinco quick game, but they also didn’t allow anything over the top all night, putting together one of the best defensive games of the year in the district.
“Our secondary played so well tonight, they couldn’t get any separation off of those guys and our defensive line, when they get in pass rush mode, they’re hard to block,” said Jordan head coach Mike Rabe. “We have a lot of trust in those guys back there. They go against a great set of wide receivers every day and so they’re ready for anyone. They like playing that aggressive style, they’re accustomed to playing physical and it’s fun to watch them operate.”
Jordan’s defense set up the offense with a short field right from the start of the game and the offense took advantage of it, going on a five play, 40-yard drive that was capped off by a three-yard touchdown run from Zion Jones. Tanner West added two touchdown runs, one from a one-yard and another from a two-yard run before Jones scored a second touchdown on a 15-yard run shortly before the half to make it 28-0 in Jordan’s favor heading into the half.
The Warriors for the past few years have been a pass first team, but this year it has turned into a power run offense with both Zion Jones and Tanner West making a huge impact while Beau Bryant adds to the run game with his ability to make plays as well. In total the Warriors had 280 yards rushing on the night, with Jones going for over 100 yards on the ground.
“Our physical strength up front has gotten better and our running backs are really running the ball well right now, they get downhill and attack the holes,” Rabe said. “And then a big thing is every defense has to respect Andrew (Marsh), every defense puts a safety over the top of him, so it lightens the box and that does a whole bunch for the run game just having his presence out there.”
Jones added another touchown in the second half while Bryant threw a 48-yard touchdown pass to Landon Williams as well. Cinco scored twice, on nine and 42 yard passes from Charlie Adamoli to Scott Eckel, but Jordan responded with a kick return touchdown by Avery Milligan from 86 yards out late in the game before Sebasitan Baptista capped the scoring with a 35-yard field goal.
Jordan will have Seven Lakes up next before taking on Katy in what may be the matchup of the season in district. While it may be tempting, the Warriors are taking it one day and one game at a time. There’s no looking ahead and they’re focused on what is in front of them.
“We know we’re good and we have that confidence, but we have learned how to handle that confidence as well,” said junior safety Zachary Taylor. “We have experience now and playing in this district for two years we know what we have to do going forward.”
