Inclement weather sets up playoff quadruple-header in Katy

Posted

With inclement weather derailing sports schedules and closing Katy ISD this week, girls and boys basketball playoff games have been rescheduled to Saturday, Feb. 20.

Katy ISD’s Merrell Center will host a Class 6A playoff quadruple-header Saturday afternoon. The schedule is as follows:

1 p.m., girls area playoff: Cinco Ranch (13-6) vs. Cy-Creek (27-0).

2:30 p.m., boys hi-district playoff: Taylor (15-5) vs. Fort Bend Bush (10-9).

4 p.m., boys bi-district playoff: Tompkins (13-9) vs. Ridge Point (11-5).

5:30 p.m., girls area game: Tompkins (18-3) vs. Memorial (19-7).

Tickets will be sold online only. A link will be sent out by Katy ISD athletics in the coming days.

Hopson Field House in Missouri City will host two more Katy ISD boys teams in their Class 6A bi-district playoff games on Saturday afternoon:

3 p.m.: Seven Lakes (13-6) at Fort Bend Travis (16-4).

5 p.m.: Mayde Creek (12-8) vs. Elkins (15-1).

While District 19-5A champ Paetow’s bi-district opponent has yet to be finalized—it will be either New Caney Porter or Cleveland—the 18-1 Panthers do know the time, date and place of their bi-district playoff game.

Paetow, ranked No. 20 in Class 5A in the state by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, will play Porter or Cleveland on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Klein Collins High School.

The revised schedules are tentative and are dependent upon the cooperation of weather and resources.
