Four Katy ISD teams are ranked in the top 10 of their respective classes in the latest Houston area high school football media poll this week.

Katy, Taylor and Tompkins are ranked within the top six in Class 6A, while Paetow is ranked No. 4 in Class 5A.

The rankings, organized by Houston Chronicle high school sports coordinator Adam Coleman, are selected by 12 media voters in the Houston area, representing the Katy Times, Houston Chronicle, Sealy News, Fort Bend Herald, Texan Live, VYPE and the Lone Star Christian Sports Network, among others.

Katy (3-0) remains No. 2 in the Class 6A rankings behind unanimous No. 1 pick North Shore. Katy is on a 74-game district-winning streak and plays Cinco Ranch at 11 a.m. Saturday at Legacy Stadium.

Taylor (4-0) jumped up three spots to No. 4 following its 49-31 win over Seven Lakes. The Mustangs play Tompkins in a big 19-6A clash at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Rhodes Stadium.

Speaking of Tompkins (3-0), the Falcons moved up four spots to No. 5 in this week’s poll. The Falcons were idle because of the postponement of its game against Katy and plays Taylor on Friday.

Mayde Creek fell out of the poll after its 21-17 loss to Cinco Ranch last week. The 3-1 Rams still earned three points this week.
