Feral Cats Animal Protection Clothing Drive

Throughout February, Citizens for Animal Protection, 17555 Katy Freeway, will have blue collection bins in the parking lot to collect gently used clothing, blankets, shoes, and other textiles. These items will be sold by the pound to be recycled. Proceeds benefit the Feral Cat Assistance Program. Drive donations begin on, but not before, Feb. 1.

Feb. 1
Low-Cost Shot Clinic for pets

Special Pal Shelter offers a low-cost shot clinic from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 1 at its offices at 3830 Greenhouse Road. Walk-ins only, with no appointment needed. Shots include yearly vaccines, preventative flea and heartworm medication, heartworm testing, and microchipping. Vaccines start at $10.

British International School of Houston Virtual Prospective Parent Open House

British International School of Houston, 2203 N. Westgreen Blvd., hosts a virtual prospective parent house. The event is set for 9:30-10:30 a.m. Feb. 3.

Nationall Charity League – Katy Chapter Annual Garage Sale Fundraiser

The National Charity League – Katy Chapter holds its annual garage sale fundraiser, with clothing, furniture, household items and other items for sale. Proceeds benefit Christmas families and other philanthropies. The event is set for 7 a.m. – 1 p.m. Feb. 5 at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church, 20775 Kingsland Blvd.

Feb. 5-6
Lunar New Year

Lunar New Year is the Chinese New Year and begins Feb. 1, but the restaurants and shops at Katy Asian Town, 23119 Colonial Pkwy., will have individual events to celebrate the Year of the Tiger.

Among the activities is a Dragon & Lion dance performance, set for 12-1 p.m. Feb. 5-6. Dragon & Lion dances are performed during the Chinese New Year and are supposed to ward off negative energies and shower the audience with good luck and prosperity.

Galentines Night Out

Southern Divas Boutique celebrates a “Galentines Night Out” from 6-8 p.m. Feb. 9 at its store, 23114 Cinco Ranch Blvd. Ladies are invited to bring their girlfriends and the store offers 15% of an entire purchase.

Texas Chili Cook-Off

The Katy Area Chamber of Commerce hosts its fifth annual chili cook-off. Proceeds benefit Katy ISD Future Farmers of America. The cook-off is from for 4-7 p.m. at 814 East Ave.

2022 Katy Half Marathon and 5K run

The event is from 7-11 a.m. at Typhoon Texas, 555 S. Katy Fort Bend Rd.

79th Annual Katy ISD FFA Livestock Show & Katy Rodeo

Events will be at the Katy ISD Agricultural Sciences Center, 5801 Katy Hockley Cut Off Road.

The livestock show and rodeo are concurrent events but are managed separately.
