We want to honor the life of Elaine Tucker, who went to be with our Lord Friday, August 26, 2022 at 88 years.

Dorothy Elaine Avera Tucker was born on January 15, 1934 to V.D. Avera and Hattie Alline Roberts Avera in Katy, Texas. She had two sisters and a brother; Lawrence, Lavern, and Cleo. She was preceded in death by her parents, V.D. Avera and Alline Avera, brother Lawrence and sister Lavern.

She grew up with the gift of music. That music gift has also gone to the next two generations. She attended Katy Elementary, Katy Junior High, and Katy High School, graduating in 1952. While at Katy High School, she excelled at many things. She was the Valedictorian of the Class of 1952, a two time Queen of the Rodeo, Drum Major, and voted Best Female Athlete in School. She received a scholarship to The University of Texas. Elaine met Frank Tucker in 1953 and married him nine months later. She was the secretary to the Katy ISD Superintendent from 1961 to 1970. She played piano for Katy Methodist Church for 8 to 10 years. She raised three children; Debra, David, and Daniel.

Elaine is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Frank Tucker; daughter, Debra Clapp and her husband David; sons, David Tucker and his wife Laurie, Daniel Tucker and his wife Clara; grandchildren, Lynnette Cen and her husband Eduardo, Dennis Clapp, Gable Tucker, Logan Tucker, Madelyn Tucker, Jessica Tucker, Charli Tucker, Jack Tucker, Thomas Tucker; and great grandchildren, Emiliano Cen and Armando Cen; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022 at the Schmidt Funeral Home East Avenue Chapel, in Katy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Katy First United Methodist Church, in Katy with Rev. Jason Smith officiating. Internment in Katy Magnolia Cemetery.
Those wishing to make a memorial donation may do so to the Sanctuary Ringers at First United Methodist Church in Katy.
