Education briefs for Dec. 1
Wilson Elementary School students and staff recently held a fundraiser and donated nearly $4,000 to the American Childhood Cancer Organization! This fundraiser event began last year in honor of a former Wilson student, now in junior high school, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Jordan High School student and state thespian officer Motewogbola Awobokun recently received a perfect score and qualified for national competition with the Texas Thespians in the solo acting performance category.

FFA members from Katy and Taylor high schools teamed up to collect and donate over 8,700 items to Katy Christian Ministries through their Stock the Trailer event.

Tompkins High School alumna Sofia Regalado is the Featured Artist Winner in the “I Am Texas” book and exhibition from iWRITE and the Bryan Museum. “I Am Texas” combines both nonprofits’ missions, to build student confidence through art and writing about their Texas stories.

Christmas time is here, and these Campbell Elementary students added to the spirit of the season by making some ornaments for Brighton Senior Living of Katy
Sofia Regalado's artwork, Tunkashila or “Grandfather” earned her the top Featured Illustrator Award of $2,000 and sold at auction for $1,500. The painting was displayed at the Phillips 66 "I am Texas" book signing, art auction and gala, held Nov. 5 at the Hilton Americas in Houston.
