Dorothy Ann Mlcak passed away on November 17, 2019 at the age of 84. Dorothy was born on October 8, 1935 in San Felipe, Texas to Anton and Annie Krupala.

Dorothy spent her youth in Sealy, Texas. She graduated in 1954 as valedictorian of her class. While in high school, she met the love of her life, Willie Anton Mlcak of Frydek, TX. After graduation, Dorothy and Willie married the following August and moved to Houston.

In Houston, Willie worked at Hughes Tool Company, while Dorothy stayed at home to become a mother. She eventually had three children – Connie, Sandra, and Michael. During those early years Dorothy became an expert crafter. Her crafting skills included sewing, crocheting, embroidering, as well as growing and canning vegetables. More importantly, she enjoyed sharing and teaching these skills to others, especially her children and grandchildren.

In 1970, Willie’s job transferred him to a plant on the west side of Houston, and the family relocated to Katy, Texas. It was during this time that Dorothy and Willie developed an interest in golf, and they quickly became members at the Stephen F. Auston Golf Club. Dorothy went on to make 5 hole-in-ones during her days as a golfer. Dorothy also enjoyed competing in and winning many local golf tournaments.

After her children graduated high school, Dorothy began working at Katy ISD in food service. She eventually advanced from being a cook to cafeteria manager at Katy High. She retired in the early 90s and spent these years teaching her grandchildren to play golf. Dorothy went on to become President of the Ladies Golf Association at Stephen F Austin, a title she held for 10 years. She also served on the Board of Directors for 16 years, the last 6 of those she served as President. She was the first female to hold this position.

Dorothy had a love of cats. There was always a pet cat in the house. Blackie, Kitty Cat, DC, and Libby were beloved and spoiled. Dorothy had cat shirts, cat calendars, cat figurines, and marked her golf balls with her signature cat drawing. She was a crazy cat lady!

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Willie Anton Mlcak; her parents, Anton and Annie Krupala, and son-in-law John Brooks III. She is survived by children, Connie Kellebrew and husband David, Sandra Brooks, and Michael Mlcak and wife Ida. Grandchildren John Brooks IV and wife Jennifer, Sarah Mlcak, Matthew Mlcak, and Kimberly Jones and husband Hayden. Great Grandchildren John Brooks V and with 3 more on the way. Dorothy is also survived by her brother Gene Krupala and his wife Hattie.
