Carol Leslie, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, November 19, 2021 at the age of 90.
Preceding her in death is husband of 68 years, Clarence Leslie; her parents, Charlie and Florence Warren; and siblings, William and Elenoar Warren, Ivan Perry, Arthur and Mardell Warren, Lester and Eleanor Warren, and Bill Biedenfeld.
Carol is survived by her children, Kit and Leann Leslie, Robin and Ed Myers and Rick and Lisa Leslie; grandchildren, Jacob Leslie, Nathan Leslie and Jennifer and Craig Godwin; great granddaughter, Ali Godwin; siblings, Lois Perry and Nora Biedenfeld; and many nieces and nephews.
Carol was born in Sioux Township, Iowa on August 23, 1931 to Charlie and Florence Warren. As a young woman, Carol was a girl scout and was in 4H club for 8 years including serving as county president for Clay County. Carol spent a lot of time helping on her family farm especially during WWII when her siblings were deployed. She also worked many summers picking corn on local farms. On March 7 1951, she married Clarence Leslie a member of the U.S. Armed Services. Carol worked in retail until she began her family in 1955 when she had Kit Leslie. Carol and Clarence had 2 more children, Robin and Rick, over the next 6 years. Carol spent many hours sewing, gardening, canning and caring for her family. One month prior to their 69th wedding anniversary, Clarence passed away after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Carol remained in their Katy, Texas home independent until her final days.
Carol called Spencer and Cherokee, Iowa home, but also spent many years in Hibbing, Minnesota, Camdenton and Springfield, Missouri, and finally Katy, Texas. Carol and her daughter Robin operated a successful wholesale craft business for many years. Carol has always enjoyed painting, crafting, creating and working with her hands. She taught many painting classes and also taught a class on trunk restoration. She has been a lifelong Methodist Church member and was active in many church functions. Carol treasured time spent with her family including summers with the grandchildren at their Lake of the Ozarks home, and eventually getting to watch her great grandchild before and after school in Katy. Her 90 years of love and legacy cannot be appropriately summarized in these few paragraphs. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Katy Magnolia Cemetery, in Katy, with Chaplain Daniel Schramm officiating.
Flowers and condolences can be sent to Schmidt Funeral Home, 1508 East Avenue, Katy, TX 77493. Condolences may also be expressed at www.SchmidtFuneralHome.net.
