Paetow senior running back Damon Bankston was named to the Texas Sports Writers Associated Class 5A all-state second team on Thursday. The explosive 5-foot-9, 180-pounder and District 10-5A, Division I, Offensive Most Valuable Player rushed for 1,634 yards and 17 touchdowns and caught nine passes for 71 yards in 10 games.

Paetow’s football season did not end how it desired, with its area round playoff game canceled because of COVID-19 cases within the Panthers program, but its success this season was rewarded when the District 10-5A, Division I selections were recently released. more

Despite difficult ending, Panthers appreciative, grateful for season
Paetow’s impressive football season came to an abrupt and disappointing end Thursday when the program was forced to shut down because of an abundance of COVID-19 cases, canceling Saturday’s Class 5A-DI area playoff game against New Braunfels Canyon as a result. more

Bankston, Panthers look to handle business in playoffs
As a junior last season, Paetow running back Damon Bankston rushed for 1,097 yards and eight touchdowns, with 286 receiving yards and four more touchdowns. Bankston averaged 8.4 yards per carry and 22.6 yards per catch. more
