Waller County Sheriff Elect Troy Guidry said he intends to update the department by reorganizing staff, establishing standards for pay grades within the department and focusing on community policing once he is sworn in this coming January. The Waller County Sheriff’s Office serves the county on the west side of Katy with a spur jutting east on the northern end. The county has an area of about 518 square miles and a population estimated at about 55,000 according to the U.S. Census Bureau. In addition to the WCSO, the county has 4 constables offices.
