John Linger

John Joseph Linger was born on January 2, 1950, in Denver, Colorado to Robert Carson and Julia Truesdale Linger.  On March 15, 1998, he married Kathleen Karl in Copper Mountain, Colorado.  John was an avid photographer, starting with photographs of mountain goats, Colorado mountains, and aspen trees prior to moving to Houston, TX.  He travelled extensively throughout Europe during his career as a seismic broker and enjoyed photographing the historical architecture there.  He switched careers and became a Petroleum Landman and enjoyed all the little Texas towns in which is worked.   Over the last ten years, John loved visiting Brazos Bend State Park, capturing beautiful images of birds, alligators, and foliage.  He loved being outdoors, whether that was climbing many of Colorado’s Fourteeners, snow skiing, running marathons, or riding his bike from Houston to Austin in many MS 150s.  He was an avid reader and a fantastic cook, and anyone who knew John knew that he was a history buff and a political junkie.

John Linger passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019, at his home in Katy, at the age of 69.  He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Linger, children Shanea Schaub and her husband, Nate, of South Carolina, Chad Linger and his wife, Agatha, of Littleton, CO, Courtney Scott Bolta and her husband, Daniel, of Houston, and Matthew Scott of Chiang Mai, Thailand; grandchildren, Ellie Schaub, Abby Schaub, and Heather Bolta; siblings, Steve Linger and his wife, Nancy, of Littleton, Colorado, Alisa Vratil and her husband, Vaughn, of Montgomery, Texas, Mindy Padovani and her husband, Michael, of Tomball, Texas, and Bridgette Lane and her husband, Richard, of Edmond, Oklahoma; as well as many other family members and friends.
