Margaret Carolyn Thompson Stager

 Margaret Carolyn Thompson Stager passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2019.  She was born on January 25, 1928, in Katy, Texas to Olen Thompson and Rowena Evans Thompson.

Margaret graduated from Katy High School in 1946. She married Ernest C. Bishop on May 10, 1947. Margaret was a longtime member of Katy First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of both the Good Samaritan Sunday School Class and the Joyful Noise Makers.  Margaret was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Katy V.F.W. Post 9182. She enjoyed sharing her cinnamon rolls, traveling, singing, puzzles, games, and baking with her grandchildren, who affectionately referred to Margaret as “Nonnie.”

Margaret will be remembered lovingly by her family. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Hodges and her husband, Jim, and Brenda Barker Weldon; her son, Bill Bishop and his wife, Susan; grandchildren, George Barker, Stephanie Mullis and her husband, Scott, Margaret Burnell, Beau Hodges and his, wife, Wendi, Sarah Hodges, Kaylynn Polvado and her husband, Todd, Ashton Bishop and his wife, Molly, Steve Stager, Auneca Hicks and her husband, Jim, Anna Paschall and her husband, Troy, and Renee Stager; ten great grandchildren; ten great great grandchildren; and both of her dear sisters, Mary’O Wilpitz and Beth Fraley and her husband, Oscar.

Margaret married Robert “Bob” F. Stager on May 3, 1983.  Bob precedes her in death. She is also preceded by her parents, Olen and Rowena Thompson; her brother, Glenn Thompson; her brother-in-law, Ernest Wilpitz; and her stepson and daughter-in-law, Robert D. and Mary Ann Stager.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at Katy First United Methodist Church, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Pallbearers are Zac Barker, Ashton Bishop, Wes Fraley, Beau Hodges, Scott Mullis, and Todd Polvado. Honorary pallbearers are George Barker, Bobby DeDear, and Jason DeDear. Interment will be private.
