Two people are dead and two others injured following a shooting at a Katy area transportation business Wednesday morning.
A man with a shotgun entered the building and fired "multiple shots" around 8:43 a.m. at Knight Transportation, according to officials in West Harris County.
The shooter, Marion Guy Williams, is dead.
One of the employees -- Mike Dawid, his former boss -- was shot and killed, and two others, including a deputy, were injured, Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman said.
Hickman said Williams had been terminated earlier in the day and re-entered the facility with a shotgun and a pistol, then began shooting with the shotgun.
He eventually used the pistol to shoot and kill himself, police said.
"Other than he was terminated, we don't know anything about him," Hickman said. "He parked right outside the building and came right in."
The building at 20431 Franz Road is located across the street from Franz Elementary and Morton Ranch High School. The two schools were placed on lockdown, but it was lifted within an hour, as there was no threat to students nearby, according to officials.
Some parents raced to the school to check on their children just to be safe.
Neighbors in a nearby subdivision heard shots fired early in the morning before police arrived to the scene within 2 minutes. The facility is close to the Katy ISD police department.
A Knight Transportation official said this was the act "of a lone former employee." The Katy facility will be closed pending completion of the investigation.
Hickman said the deputy was not shot but sustained an injury to the knee while making entry into the property.
