Kerr's leap of faith pays off

As a teenager living in Katy, Kevin Kerr will admit that his life was not all that pleasant. Coming from a dysfunctional family with alcohol and drug issues, Kerr soon found himself isolated from his friends, an issue he wrote about at indiegogo.com, a website for independent film-makers.

"Many of my friends stopped spending time with me because their parents wanted no association with my family,'' Kerr wrote. "Becoming isolated, I escaped into movies. I fell in love with inspirational movies like Rudy and Gone With the Wind.''
