Jordan girls finish 12th at state golf tournament

The Jordan girls golf team came in 12th at this week’s Class 6A State Tournament, bringing an end to a tremendous season for the Warriors where they broke through to reach state for the first time.

The Jordan girls golf team came in 12th at this week’s Class 6A State Tournament, bringing an end to a tremendous season for the Warriors where they broke through to reach state for the first time.

The Warriors were the bottom finisher at state but put together a gritty performance where they battled. Jordan ended the two days with a score of 657, improving from shooting 329 as a team on day one to 328 day two, as a team of Rumi Kurihara, Abbi Nelson, Jennie Dong, Candelaria Carlevaro and Leia McKenzie competed for Jordan.

Kurihara led the way for the Warriors, shooting 79 both days for a total of 158, while Nelson shot 159, shooting 80 the first day and 79 the next. Mackenzie shot 84 the first day and 83 the second day for a total of 167, Carlevaro had a total of 173 by shooting 86 the first day and 87 the second and Dong shot 90 the first day and 92 the second to finish with a total of 182.

Vandegrift took the team title in 6A, while San Antonio Reagan finished second and Coppell finished third. Vandegrift players took both first and second, with Swetha Sathish finishing with the gold and Sydney Givens finishing second, while Kingwoods’ Bella Flores and Westlake’s Isabel Emanuels tied for the bronze medal.
